Choosing the right size dumpster for your project on the treasure coast

Choose a dumpster by material density first, project scope second. Dense debris hits weight long before you run out of space; light/bulky debris needs cubic yards. On the Treasure Coast, rain can add pounds overnight--tarp between days.
What each size does best10-yard
Concrete, brick, dirt, stone, tile, plaster; patio/hardscape demo; small baths. The go-to for pure heavy debris loads.
15-yard
Kitchens/baths, flooring, deck boards, mixed C&D where dense materials are part of the job. Balances floor space with weight safety.
20-yard
Whole-home cleanouts and light remodels. Great for bulky but lighter items: furniture, drywall, cardboard.
25-yard
A sweet spot for larger cleanouts with mostly light/bulky items. Extra headroom without jumping to a 30.
30-yard
Roofing (asphalt) and big, light loads. Fine for many Treasure Coast tear-offs when you keep it flat and at/below the rails and pull on time. For tile/slate, expect earlier pulls and likely unable to load them fully depending on weight.
40-yard ( limited availability)
This size is for large scale projects, with large volume, but cannot be used for super heavy and dense materials. It is best to discuss the scope of work and materials to be loaded to ensure you are not incurring additional service charges/stop fees/unable to pick up.
Situational sizing (real-world examples)
  • Kitchen + bath + some tile: 15-yard. Load tile first, then lighter debris.
  • Estate/furniture cleanout: 20 or 25-yard. Break down furniture and boxes to remove voids.
  • Roof tear-off (single-layer asphalt): 25 or 30-yard. Keep level; pull at your stop line.
  • Hardscape/tile demo: 10-yard; spread heavy material flat and call the pull at the rail.
Avoid the “bigger must be better” trapA 30 gives room but invites overfilling if you’re not disciplined. For mixed jobs, start with a size that controls weight and keeps the load flat. If access forces a 15/20, plan one extra haul rather than heaping a 30 you can’t place.
Access & surfaces (common Treasure Coast constraints)
  • Paver driveways: Lay plywood to prevent marking and settling.
  • Soft ground after rain: Choose a driveway pad or compacted area.
  • Low trees & wires: Confirm 10–12 ft overhead clearance.
  • Gated/HOA: Reserve set/pick windows to avoid trip charges.
Loading rules that make any size workHeavy low/centered • Fill corners with light items • Break down everything • Latch the door before topping • Stop at the rail • Tarp securely.
